We are seeking individuals to assist with online promotion, video editing, and social media presence for our upcoming Storyteller: A Tanith Lee Tribute Anthology. We also welcome anyone interested in tasks associated with book creation, including but not limited to copyediting, story selection, and authorial interviews.
If you have experience or skills in any of these areas and feel you fit the mission of our press, please reach out to us. We are a volunteer operation at the moment, but hope to change that in the future. We also accept college students who require internship credit.
Essential Dreams Press aims to amplify voices and promote social change in what we publish, who we publish, and how we work as a team. Equality is a fool’s errand without inclusion whether it’s race, ethnicity, gender identity & expression, sexual orientation, religion, body ability, nationality, or age.
In attempting to take such a stance, it’s important that we listen, learn, and change. What started as a project thought up by a group of writing friends has transformed into something beyond those initial discussions. With that transformation comes the need to reach beyond our initial group, not only in who we publish, but in who we are. We are committed to expanding our publishing team in a way that embraces many backgrounds, perspectives and experiences. We’re committed to a pluralistic community, not just within the pages of our books, but here at the press itself. We are specifically hoping to expand our team to include BIPOC members. We recognize we are missing essential professional perspectives. As the FIYAH report BSF Report: Going Forward states, only by institutional shifts will the speculative fiction community become “a stronger, more inclusive culture overall.”
